2025 Kang football gameday roles
We’d love your help to make game days fun and successful for our players. Below are the primary volunteer roles, with quick descriptions to show what each involves. If you have any questions or want more details, just email us at info@kangfootball.com—we’re happy to help!
Chain Gang
The chain gang is a vital part of every football game! They’re the volunteers on the sideline who hold the down marker and 10-yard chains to show the line of scrimmage, the current down, and how far the team needs for a first down.
It’s an easy job once you get the hang of it—and you’ll have the best seat in the house! You just need to:
Hold the chains or down marker where the officials tell you.
Stay focused and neutral during the game (no cheering from the sideline).
Move only when the refs signal.
Videographer
If you’d like to help out, let us know—we’ll show you exactly what to do!
We need a volunteer to film the game so our players and coaches can review each play later. You can use your iPhone or personal video camera, or we can provide a video camera and tripod upon request.
Your job is simple:
Start and stop the recording for each play (this makes it easier to upload into Hudl).
Follow the action so the play stays centered on the screen.
Upload the clips to Hudl after the game (see upload instructions here)
It’s easy, fun, and you’ll have the best view of the game!
We’re looking for a volunteer to bring the game to life over the PA system! The announcer helps keep fans informed and engaged by calling out the plays, player names, and big moments during the game.
Your role includes:
Announcing the starting lineups, scoring plays, and key game updates.
Sharing down and distance and other helpful info for the crowd.
Reading any sponsor messages or team announcements (we’ll provide a script for these).
You don’t need to be a professional broadcaster—just bring a clear voice and some energy! This is a fun way to support the team and keep the game atmosphere exciting. Sometimes bring a friend who can act as a “spotter” - someone who helps identify who made the play - can be helpful and more fun.
We need a volunteer to run the scoreboard during the game. This role is all about keeping the fans and teams informed by updating:
Score for both teams
Down and distance
Quarter
Game clock (including making small adjustments when officials signal)
It’s simple and we’ll show you how the system works before the game. If you can follow along with the action on the field, you can do this!
Sideline photographer
Love taking photos? This is your chance to be right on the sideline and get great action shots of the game! We need a volunteer to snap photos of players, coaches, and those exciting game moments for our team to share later.
What you’ll do:
Take clear action shots during the game.
Focus on players, team spirit, and sideline moments.
Share your best photos with the team after the game (we’ll give you an easy way to upload).
The best part? You get sideline access—the closest view of the game! Bring your camera or phone, and we’ll help with any tips you need.
We love to keep our players energized and hydrated! Parents are encouraged to bring healthy snacks and drinks for halftime and after the game. Think fruit, granola bars, string cheese, trail mix, or other simple, nutritious options.
If you’d like to help, sign up to bring something for the team on game day. It’s an easy way to support the players and keep them going strong!
