Latest News and Upcoming Events!

We want to start by saying thank you to everyone that attended the Kang Football Auction this past Saturday night.  Everyone in attendance had a great time celebrating our program with some outstanding BBQ prepared by the BBQ Schact.  While we are still finalizing the numbers, it is estimated that the auction raised a net $14,000 that will be used to support the football program!  The Gridiron Board will be prioritizing the funding requests received from Coach Arena in the next few weeks.

The auction would not have been possible without the leadership of Tom and Anne Allan who chaired this event.  We also want to thank Jeff and Jayne Vanderstelt and Mark and Tracy Johnsen for their hard work setting up and tearing down after the event.  Additional thanks also go to Alison Sheffer for helping procure auction items; Shelly Quinn and Slugger's Kirkland for donating a keg of beer; our auctioneer and Master of Ceremonies Patrick Fagan; and our fantastic senior football players and members from the drill, cheer, and girl's soccer teams for their assistance during the evening.  Go Kangs!

Last Friday, the Kangs came up two points short vs. Redmond.  Despite the loss, the offense posted over 300 yards rushing!  The Varsity Kangs will look for their first win of the season tomorrow night at Mac Field vs. the Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks.  Game time is 7:00 p.m.

Also, tomorrow's game is homecoming at LWHS, and the ASB will be hosting a pre-game tailgate!  Come join the fun starting at 5:00 p.m. on campus where there will be live music and food trucks. Tacos El Guero and Mini the Doughnut will be selling food, so come grab a bite to eat and show your support for the Kangs tomorrow night!

Junior Varsity News.
The JV team put forth an outstanding performance on Monday night vs. Redmond.  The team played a complete game to get their first win of the season, 29-8.  It was great to see so many parents at Monday's game (there were more fans in the LW stands than the Redmond stands, even though we played at Redmond!).  Good luck JV team in their game next week vs. Marysville-Pilchuck!

C-Team News.
The C-Team did not have a game this week, but they continue to practice hard.  C-Team will take on Marysville-Pilchuck on Wednesday night at Mac Field.  Since this is a home game, stop by to support the players as they look for their first win of the season.

If you have questions regarding the C-Team, you can contact C-Team Representative Alison Sheffer at cteamrep@kangfootball.com.

UPDATE:  You can help Tackle Homelessness on the Eastside for every Varsity Kang touchdown!
If you have been to the home games, you have heard the announcements about how each Kang touchdown scored by the Varsity team this season will help combat homelessness on the Eastside.  The Kang Gridiron Booster Club and Windermere Real Estate Kirkland have partnered together to help raise money for Attain Housing, a non-profit providing homeless families on the Eastside with stable transitional housing and compassionate case management services.  Windermere Real Estate Kirkland will donate $20.00 for each Kang Varsity touchdown this season.  So far, the Kangs Varsity team has scored 8 touchdowns, which means $160.00 to Attain Housing.  However, members of the Kang Community can help even more!

Since homelessness is a community issue, we have created an opportunity for our Kang community to help support this cause as well.  Anyone can visit kangfootball.com/tacklehomelessness to make a per touchdown or flat donation to Attain Housing.  At the end of the season, the Gridiron Booster Club will tally the donations and email participants information about how they can make their donation directly to Attain Hosuing.  With the community's help, we can support this cause one touchdown at a time!
